Prof. Dr. Madeeha Shahzad Lodhi
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Madeeha Shahzad Lodhi is a biochemist and biotechnology researcher with over a decade of experience translating laboratory science into affordable, patentable health innovations. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of the Punjab and currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Biochemistry Discipline at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Lahore.
Message from the Founder and CEO
I founded the MSL Center for Health Innovation and Biotechnology on a conviction that has shaped my whole career: science is only complete once it reaches the people it is meant to help.
Pakistan is not short of scientific talent. What it has often lacked is the infrastructure, the funding and the bridges that carry a finding out of the laboratory and into a clinic, a diagnostic report or a community that needs it. MSL-CHIB exists to build those bridges — through rigorous research, through laboratories that can sustain it, through training that keeps it going, and through subsidised diagnostic services that bring results within reach of people who could not otherwise afford them.
Everything the Center does is held to two standards: that the science is sound, and that its benefits are genuinely accessible. That is why we operate on a non-profit basis, reinvesting any surplus into research, facilities and the next generation of researchers.

MSL Center for Health Innovation & Biotechnology (MSL-CHIB) is a not-for-profit research organization advancing research and innovation in molecular biology, biotechnology, diagnostics, and public health. We connect rigorous scientific research with practical, affordable, and accessible solutions designed to improve healthcare and strengthen research capacity in Pakistan.
Through research, training, partnerships, and community engagement, the Center works to strengthen laboratory capacity, support emerging researchers, and help expand access to reliable scientific and diagnostic services.

Scientific Research
To promote and undertake scientific research in the fields of molecular biology, biotechnology, diagnostics, and public health, including translational and clinical research, for the advancement of knowledge and improvement of healthcare outcomes in the public interest, subject to the approval of the competent authority.
Laboratories & Products
To establish, operate, and maintain research laboratories and facilities, and to develop, test, and validate biotechnological products, biomaterials, and diagnostic systems, with a focus on innovation, affordability, and accessibility, subject to the approval of the competent authority.
Collaboration & Dissemination
To collaborate and engage with academic institutions, healthcare providers, and research organisations, both within Pakistan and internationally, and to disseminate research findings in accordance with applicable ethical standards and regulatory requirements, on a non-profit basis.

Access & equity
Science that arrives where it is needed
Diagnostic capacity in Pakistan is unevenly distributed. Laboratories cluster in major cities; cost and distance keep testing out of reach for many of the people who would benefit most from it.
Two parts of our work address that directly. Our subsidised services reduce the cost of testing for patients referred through partner clinics and community programmes. Our outreach activities take screening and health education into communities rather than waiting for them to travel.
